Happy Friday!  For only working 2 days this week, it felt like I worked a week!  Sheesh.  It was like a full moon coming today - the phone calls were nuts man.  And I didn't sleep well Wed and Thurs nights because I think I'm use to sleeping in.  :(  So I need to get caught up on my sleep this weekend!   What are your plans for the weekend?  Tomorrow my friend Katy is coming over and we're going to make cake pops.  What are cake pops you ask?  These adorable things:

We aren't going all fancy yet - you can REALLY get fancy with these babies.  We're going to do a test batch this weekend to see how they taste and get an idea of how hard/easy/putzy these things will be.  Co-workers I will be using you as taste testers next week!

What else?  Oh! We went back to Ragstock tonight - I got a different dress.  $6.  Score!  Much lighter colored than the other one - better for blood for Zombie Pub Crawl.  So on Sunday we'll probably be destroying zombie costumes.

We have a couple movies to watch (Bridesmaids and Community Season 2) AND I'm going to experiment with a new recipe - Butternut Squash Mac n Cheese - stay tuned for the review.

Tomorrow is October 1 - best month of the year.  :)

Happy Thursday!  9 days til Zombie Pub Crawl!  Who's going?  I might need to hit up Ragstock one more time to look for a dress.  I have one, but I kinda don't want to destroy it LOL.  Oyyyyyyy veeeyyy.  Here are some pictures in honor ZPC.   Enjoy boys.   :-)   Actually if I was slightly smaller and didn't have to predict if the weather will be in the 30's (like the first year we went) or the 80's (like the second year) I would totally do this!

BRRAAAAAAIIIIIIINSSSSSSS!

Helloooo!   I am just sitting down.  Been channeling Betty Draper all day.  I went out for groceries this morning.  Came home and made pumpkin spice muffins (out of the box from Trader Joe's - totally cheated on that one) - I topped them off with cream cheese frosting and pumpkin spice.  YUM!  I sampled one.  Muy bueno.   The honeycrisps are out so I bought a bag and made apple crisp.  I don't have ice cream though... fail.  Need to get some!  Between baking I cleaned the house and did laundry.

Dinner.  Oooohhhh dinner!  I made Chicken Rollatini with Prosciutto and Provolone (Skinny Taste Recipe).  Is your mouth watering?    I wish my blog had smellivision - my whole house smelled so good all day.

I think I could do this 50's housewife thing for awhile.  I'd get bored eventually but I can deal for awhile I think.  :-)  Alas, tomorrow I have to go back to work.  I don't EVEN want to think about how many voicemails and emails I have....

And lastly, HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my darling Lucas!  His last year in his 20's.  Doesn't feel like I've known him since he was 16!!  Mwah lover!

Well our hiking plans were ruined by the weather.  Hiking in cold, rainy weather isn't our cup to tea.  So instead we hung out and did nothing. :)  We did go to dinner tonight at Haute Dish in Minneapolis with Julie for Supper Club.  Definitely an interesting menu!

Starters included fry bread for Lucas, ants on a log (fancy style) for Julie and watermelon and tomato Salad for me.  I wasn't a HUGE fan of the salad (although it was puuurty).  I really liked the fry bread Lucas got - it came with thinly sliced ham and a giant ball of mozzarella - hello!

Ants on a Log (Spring Roll style)

Lucas and I shared Tater Tot Hot Dish for dinner - this isn't your mama's TTHD people.  This included short ribs, green beans and some crazy good "tots" that tasted like fried mashed potatoes.  Julie had Steak and Potatoes which included marrow bone and potatoes fried in duck fat.  Lucas is NOT a fan of marrow -it has a weird texture.  He's a texture man.

This is Tater Tot Hotdish.

Dessert was Brie Cheesecake.

Time to go do 19,938 sit ups!  LOL.

Staycation Day 1 included the DMV, Goodwill (I scored another cute Talbots skirt for $2) and Ragstock.  We stocked up at Ragstock for Zombie Pub Crawl.  Here is a sneak peek at our costumes:

Tonight we went to Hazel's NE for dinner.  Lucas had a corned beef sandwich and garlic mashed potatoes.  I had the mushroom, chicken, kale risotto (yum) and we shared cheesecake for dessert.

I'm going on a short staycation.  Lucas took off Mon and Tuesday.  We're going to hang out.  Do some thrifting, Halloween shopping, go to Minnehaha Falls, go to dinner.  Just pretend we don't have to have jobs for a few days.  Wednesday I'm going to do some cleaning and baking around the house.  Thursday and Friday I'll be back to work wishing I hadn't taken Mon-Wed off.  Sigh.  Hopefully with the help of my coworkers I'll be able to see most of the surface of my desk when I come in on Thursday. :-)   I'll try to document our staycation with pics for the blog!
