What a glorious day in Minneapolis!  I had lunch with my friend Katy today - it was our first get together since before Christmas I think - so it was Christmas/Birthday lunch. :-)

I made this beautiful creation to take to Mother's Day tomorrow:

Mmmmm..... its angel food cake, a mix of vanilla yogurt, lemon pudding, cream cheese and milk, strawberries, and cool whip.  YUM.  Lucas was taste testing while I was trying to put it together and the comment was "You might wake up in the middle of the night and find my head in the bowl."

Signs of summer:

Hostas are up!

Lucas got the herbs and veggies all planted in the planters.

And finally, Mr. Beezo got to go for a short walk.  Even though the dogs played in the yard for HOURS today and got baths, he went for a walk too - and now they're all out cold.

5 Question Friday!

1. Have you ever had roommates?

Just Lucas. :)  He's a pretty good roommate.

2. How many names do you/your children have? (i.e. Prince Charming William Phillip Arthur Louis John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt)
One for the girl canines - Basil Marie and Charlotte Rose after the grandmas and Vinci is just Vinci....  or sometimes Vinchenzo Mio - so I guess that can be his middle name.  :)

3. Did you watch the Royal Wedding?

Duh, and I blogged about it!  Royal Wedding Review

4. What is the messiest room in your house?

Kitchen - always.  Half the time there are grass clippings, etc on the floor from dog feet, misc crumbs and dishes of course.  Sigh.  My least favorite room to clean too.

5. What is your ideal mothers day?

Same as every other day.  :)

Dinner tonight:

Turkey burgers on the grill with Swiss cheese and fixings.  Strawberries with cool whip.  Yum.

Our duckies (1 girl, 3 boys - lucky girl? or poor girl?) were chilling on the neighbor's roof.

Saw this on another blog and thought it was fun:

So you’ve been given access to a time machine, but it only has enough power to send you to one time and place and back.

Ok this is hard to pick just one.....  so I'm not going to, hehe.

1.  1920's speakeasy - how fun to be a glamorous flapper girl in a speakeasy in the 20's!  Sporting a bob, "short" dress, dancing the Charleston and drinking alcohol that you weren't suppose to have!  How fun!

2.   Globe Theater, London, England - in the audience of a Shakespearean play.

3.  A day in Versailles in the 1700's - minus the beheadings.

4.  July 20, 1969 - I can't imagine what it would have been like to experience this on TV (if you had a TV).

Where would you time travel to??

My latest blogs I can't stop reading (in addition to the others I've blogged about before):

Emily Bites  - very similar to Skinny Taste - lots of good low cal recipes

Trader Joe's Fan  - a message board about products from and recipes using products from TJ's

Ramshackle Glam - I love Jordan's blog - she talks about fashion, food, interior design, randomness, love!
l
Tom and Lorenzo - these boys crack me up - the talk about fashion AND my fave TV show, Mad Men

Life is a VERB!  - not a ton of reading, but lots of great motivational pics and speak.

Always Order Dessert - not EVEN low calorie, but fun to see what she comes up with - it always looks amazing.

Nutmeg Notebook - more recipes - and they don't all have Nutmeg.

So when I'm asked "OMG what do you do on the laptop all the time??"  - I READ!!  Ya know, like people who read books and newspapers - I just read them on a computer screen.  Really cuts down on the clutter.  :)

And just to make you laugh (I dare you not to):

A quote from my Facebook friend Barb,

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

And that would pretty much be how I feel about this Osama thing.  I saw footage and pictures of Americans celebrating in the streets and I thought to myself "How are those Americans any different than Pakistanis celebrating in the streets after American soldiers were killed?" I have mixed emotions over the celebrating....  And just like the death of Sadam Hussein didn't create "world peace", I don't think killing Osama bin Laden will create it either.  Unfortunately it may have opened a whole new can of worms.....

I feel for the families of 9/11 and the families of the soldiers who died in this forever long "War on Terrorism" and I hope they have gotten some sort of peace or justice with his death, but for me personally, I will not rejoice in his death nor will I be sad about it.  I respect our troops - what needed to be done was done.  They did what they have been asked to do - seek and destroy.   But again, I just wish that everyone involved now has some peace.

* This is MY opinion - I'm not looking for a debate.  Everyone is entitled to their opinions and this just happens to be mine.  Its the beauty of having a blog.  :-)  *

Its May 1st.  Its 35 degrees out.  The windchill is 30.   For the love.

On to happier things.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BASIL!!!  We don't know for sure when Basil was born other than "May 1999" so May 1 is her designated birthday - Grandma B is 12 years old.   She's still pretty spunky for an old lady.

Here she is the day she came into rescue - we fostered her first and she just decided to stay, haha.  Her former owners got divorced and the husband took the dogs (two of them) and he was trying to basically hide them in his no dogs allowed apartment.

Yes, her nails are painted.

Diva B.

And she decides when Vinci is allowed to touch her.

Happy Birthday B!
